The groynes along town beach and the marina are not very appealing and have not been designed to be people friendly. However they have a big impact on the visual amenity of the town. I feel this could be addressed if some simple shapes and sculputres (perhaps made from shade cloth for example) are created along the groynes to make distinctive shapes, for example the shape of a whale or a dragon sitting in the water.
Also lighting in the evenings may be onther idea where the lights are placed to create shapes of boats/animals when veiwed from different locations on the foreshore etc.
I feel that if we can establish some mounting points along the groynes, the shapes could be regularly changed to create different ideas to reflect the seasons and festivities in the City.

Alan Bradley | I think in the long term unless we can make the groynes around Geraldton attractive and an integral part of our coastal lifestyle the City will struggle with the future issues it faces at having these strucutres along the coast. We need some simple cost effective ideas to have these strucutres enjoyed and as people friendly as possible. |
